The beautiful surroundings of Westonbirt Arboretum on a sunny Monday evening were enjoyed by 682 runners as Chris Illman of host club Cirencester AC won a competetive race. Making the early running he was gradually pegged back by American Tristan Mitchell, on holiday from Denver, before a late surge in the last kilometre saw him to a 6 second victory. Marc Fallows held on well to finish third, and with Bill Leggate in 6th Cirencester were comfortable winners of the team prize. Adam Harborrow also ran strongly to finish in the top ten whilst Jane Wassell was pleased to dip inside 40 minutes, finishing as second LV35. The clear winner of the ladies race was GB international Gemma Turtle of Gloucester AC, who finished 5th overall in a superb time of 35.44. The previous Thursday saw a number of Cirencester members in action at the White Horse 5k, with Adrian Williams finishing an excellent 10th, equalling his PB in a time of 15.56. Marc Fallows was next home in 16.21, whilst Bill Leggate just got the better of Matt Shannon in the closing stages. Adam Harborrow set a new PB of 17.48 to keep pace alongside Adrian at the top of the club championship. Jane Wassell was first Cirencester lady home in 18.43. Geoff Wells headed to Scotland for the Edinburgh Marathon but was thwarted in his efforts to finish under 4 hours by unseasonably hot conditions. Holding on well, he recorded a time of 4.16.54.

The 2010 triathlon season kicked off for Cirencester AC at the Cotswold Sprint Triathlon. The cold, blustery conditions made for uncomfortable bike and run legs for the 8 members who had already braved the chill waters of Keynes Country Park, but they all battled gamely with Bob Ferris, John Evans and Sarah Gunn picking up age group wins. Martin Croucher showed his versatility following the recent Two Oceans Marathon, dropping down to 5k at the latest Swindon Parkrun and recording a first ever race victory in the process. Jane Wassell ran well at the Bristol 10k to record a time of 38.55, whilst Matt Shannon also produced a solid showing in finishing 30th at the Tewkesbury Half Marathon
