As part of it's 25th anniversary celebrations, Cirencester AC challenged local rivals Bourton Road Runners to a mob match, held last Sunday over a 5 mile route in Cirencester Park. A healthy travelling contingent of 29 athletes from Bourton toed the line against the home team's 35, and, with every member's result contributing to the final scores, the battle for points was keenly contested throughout the field. Led by Chris Illman and Scott Richardson, Cirencester made a strong start with four runners in the first five, Bourton's Mike Smith having a fine run for third. However, with both teams packing well in the middle positions, it wasn't until the final few runners had crossed the finishing line that the calculations could be done, with Cirencester emerging victorious by 748 points to 1050.
