Barry Sampson headed the quartet of Cirencester AC members who took to the streets of the capital for last weekend's London Marathon, finishing narrowly outside his PB in an excellent time of 2.52.23. Mark Gluning was next home for the club, comfortably breaking the 4 hour barrier despite finding the later stages a struggle. Jan Trocki and Maggie Elsey reaped the benefits of their consistant training, both displaying supreme pace judgement to finish in 4.17.25 and 4.48.01 respectively. Jan's time represented a huge revision of his personal best by almost 28 minutes. Yvonne Binks was also in action over 26.2 miles, recording a time of 5.12.03 at the Shakespeare Marathon. Adam Harborrow joined her in Stratford but opted instead for the half marathon, running strongly to finish 20th. Ed Morris headed to the Yorkshire Dales to take on the tough challenge of Pen-y-gent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Three Peaks Race, finishing impressively in a time of 4.39.47. Closer to home, Adrian Williams continued his winning streak with victory at the latest Swindon Parkrun, notching a new course record of 16.35, whilst Chris Riches placed 310th at the Corsham St George 10k.

Adrian Williams produced a superb performance to return from last weekend's Highworth 5 with the winners trophy. An effort at two miles saw him move away from the main pack and he maintained his form up the final hill to finish 7 seconds clear and record his first ever race victory. Next home for the club were Matt Shannon and Adam Harborrow who both ran well to record times under 30 minutes, whilst Bill Leggate also finished in the top twenty. Les Davies donned the club vest for the first time and ran strongly, finishing just ahead of Ed Morris. Jane Stevens narrowly pipped Rachel Jones to the honour of first club lady home, with new member Kerrie Wallis also close behind.

Martin Croucher fulfilled a long held ambition when he took part in South Africa's famous Two Oceans Marathon, a somewhat misleading title as the race is actually held over the even more daunting distance of 35 miles. However, with confidence bouyed by a well judged and injury free training programme, his first foray into the world of ultra running proved highly successful, as he maintained an incredibly even pace to record a finishing time of 5.23.31.To read more about it please click here.
Closer to home, Adrian Williams continued the defence of his club road running title at the Maidenhead 10, overcoming less than favourable conditions to record a new PB of 56.50, whilst Tony Shelbourne and Ian Davies also received good championship points for their efforts. Keith Firkin and Ed Morris both headed to Berkshire for the Compton 20 multi-terrain race, recording times of 2.49.53 and 3.08.56 respectively, whilst David Wright once again finished 5th at the Swindon Parkrun.
