Many congratulations to Wendy & Justin Nicholls on the birth of Gabriel Anthony at 7lb 8oz on 15 February, a brother for Poppy. Mother and son both doing very well despite Wendy's experience of giving birth apparently being far more painful than running any marathon!

Cirencester AC's Jenny Manners produced an outstanding performance at the recent British Universities cross country championships to place 25th in a high quality women's field. Finishing less than two minutes down on british olympian Steph Twell, Jenny was part of the Loughborough squad who won the women's team title. Only three club members were brave enough to tackle the notoriously tough Dursley Dozen, Dorian Matts proving strongest up the hills to finish in 1.47.52. Rupert Chesmore held off the challenge of Renata Sharp, both finishing in under 2 hours. Marc Fallows opted for an off road challenge of a different kind, finishing an excellent 12th at the Cirencester Park duathlon. Meanwhile, Martin Croucher continued his preparations for April's Two Oceans Marathon with a well paced run at the Bramley 20. Starting steadily he was able to gradually pick up the pace over the second 10 miles to finish in 2.37.50.

Cirencester AC hosted the 4th round of the Oxford Mail league at Cirencester Park last Sunday, with the men's team making the most of home advantage to win the fixture by just 3 points from Swindon Harriers. Marc Fallows continued his return to fitness to lead the team in 16th position, with Adrian Williams next home after edging out Charles Woodd with a well timed finishing burst. Barry Sampson, Adam Harborrow and Bill Leggate finished in close order with Graeme Furley completing the team scoring in 40th. The ladies team finished a close second behind Headington, superbly led in 4th place by Jane Wassell, with Jane Thomas also making the top 10 and finishing as first FU20. Lucy Doughty closed the team with a well paced run for 17th. The club's juniors were well also represented with Alex Chantler best placed, finishing an excellent 6th in the U13 boys race. It was a busy weekend of cross country for several club members, with the rearranged County Championships held last Saturday at Cheltenham's Pitville Park. Jane Wassell was again to the fore, finishing first LV40 and 8th overall, whilst Jane Thomas narrowly missed out on a top 20 placing. Making up for lost time after a long injury lay off, Jane Wassell was also in action the previous weekend at the Midland Cross Country Championships, excelling in tough, muddy conditions to finish 18th.
