Six Cirencester AC members headed into Oxfordshire to contest last Sunday's Eynsham 10k. They were led home by Bill Leggate who was pleased to record a time just outside 37 minutes after a season dogged by injury. Bob Ferris was closely shadowed by Trudy Compton throughout the race, just holding on to a narrow 5 second advantage at the finish. Jane Stevens was next home for the club after edging past Lynn Ferris in the final 2k, whilst Christina See posted a time of exactly 58 minutes.

Barry Sampson finished an excellent 5th in last weekend's Swindon 10k, recording a time of 36.27 in blustery conditions. Bryan Reid was also to the fore, 12th place a fine reward for making the long journey over from East Anglia. Charles Woodd finished exactly 50th, whilst Brian Barrowclough was pleased with his run, despite narrowly missing out on a sub 50 minute clocking. Meanwhile, Jane Wassell continued her return to fitness at the second round of the Gloucestershire cross-country league, placing eighth over a wet, slippery course at Blackbridge. Jane Thomas was just a minute behind, finishing 3rd junior, with Christina See completing the ladies team who finished 15th. Dorian Matts was once again the lone Cirencester representative in the men's race, finishing in 151st position.

Marc Fallows was the leading Cirencester AC performer at last weekends Cirencester Park Off Road Duathlon. Fortunately the wind and rain of the previous day had given way to bright sunshine, although with the ground still waterlogged the 10 mile bike leg proved especially testing. Second after the opening 2 mile run, Marc battled well on the bike to keep himself in contention, and with another strong run was able to move back up the field into 19th position at the finish. Stephen Kell just edged a close battle with Mark Evans to be next club finisher home, with Chris Sherrington completing the club representation in 165th position. Alice Thomas opted for the shorter race and produced a valient effort, finishing in 12th position an agonising 2 seconds behind the first lady home.

The first round of the Oxford Mail Cross Country League saw an excellent turnout of 38 Cirencester AC members brave wet and wild conditions at Ascott-under-Wychwood. Fortunately the athletes fared better on the day than the club tent which came off second best to the gale force wind! Chris Illman defied a back injury to lead the men's team to a competetive third place behind Oxford, with Adrian Williams also placing in the top twenty and Graham Furley making a fine club debut in 30th. Barry Sampson, Adam Harborrow and Matt Shannon finished in close order, with Marc Fallows returning from injury to close the A team scoring. A steady stream of Cirencester vests followed with the biggest cheer reserved for Neville Prinsloo who mounted a spirited sprint finish to overtake several rivals on the line. Jane Thomas produced the best individual performance of the day with a superb 8th position in the ladies race. Nicola Denning worked her way steadily through the field to finish 20th, with Alice Thomas completing the A team who finished in sixth position. A number of club juniors battled the worst of the conditions with Will Mckemey making an encouraging club debut in the Under 15/17 Boys. Conditions were equally blustery at the Tewkesbury "Guy Fawkes" 5, with Rachel Jones first Cirencester finisher, ahead of Yvonne Binks who succesfully retained her Glos AAA V60 road race title. Trudy Compton headed to Buckinghamshire where she recorded a time of 1.40.32 at the Marlow Half Marathon.
