Fred Robson put 78 years of experience to good use to overcome tough conditions at the Turku Marathon. With temperatures topping 30 degrees, Fred finished a superb 2nd in his age category in the race held in honour of Finnish Olympic legend Paavo Nurmi. Jane Wassel has also been in fine form with victory in the Oldbury-on-Severn 4. Cirencester AC's ladies performed well at the Bourton Hilly Half with Carol Clark and Liza Darroch both completing age group wins, and Trudy Compton leading home the Cirencester finishers ahead of Mark Gluning. Chris Illman narrowly failed to complete a hat-trick of victories at the Westonbirt 10k, as Dursley's Gary Hughes pulled away in the second half of the race to win in a time of 32.45. Kevin Snowball ran well to finish 24th, just holding off the challenge of Jane Wassell who had the consolation of finishing second lady. Amongst the other Cirencester runners on show, both Martin Denning and Mark Evans made the top hundred, whilst the evergreen Fred Robson was pleased to break 60 minutes.

Chris Illman was thwarted in his attempt to retain his title at the recent Fairford 10k, finishing in third behind Bristol athlete Stephen McGuigan. However, backed up by Adrian Williams and David Wright, who both enjoyed comfortable runs to finish in 4th and 6th respectively, Cirencester AC were commanding winners of the team race. Such was the club's dominance the "B" team were runners-up, with Barry Sampson and Matt Shannon also in the top 10, and Stephen Elverd having a fine run in 16th. This consolidated his position at the top of the club road race championship after the first 5 races. The women's championship is led by club junior Alice Thomas who finished Fairford in a time of 46.30.

At the Dorney Dash 10k Martin Croucher finished in an excellent 34th position, whilst Bryan Reid made a welcome return to club colours finishing in 40.57. There was success for Cirencester at the recent "Back in a flash" 5k in Swindon with both Scott Richardson and Charles Woodd finishing on the podium, whilst at the "Cloud Cuckoo" multi terrain race Steve Elverd and Jane Thomas survived the hills to finish in 40th and 104th respectively. Neil Dunnage continued his build up to the UK Ironman by completing the Swashbuckler Triathlon in the New Forest. Comprising a 1.9k sea swim, 80k bike and 22k run, Neil was pleased to finish under 5 hours.
