Less than a week separated the most recent rounds of the Cirencester AC road race championship, with only Yvonne Binks brave enough to race at both the Frampton 10k and the Bourton Mile. Trudy Compton was first home for the club at Frampton, whilst Dick Waldron enjoyed a good run to finish in 47.44. David Wright came through the field strongly at the Bourton Mile to finish in an excellent 11th position, one place ahead of Matt Shannon who also broke the 5 minute barrier. Stephen Elverd was next home for the club, consolidating his position at the top of the club championship, whilst further back Yvonne Binks was ensuring good championship points for her weeks effort. Both Alice and Barbara Thomas were in action at the White Horse 5k, whilst Barbara also finished first in her age group at the Devils Chimney Chase,

David Wright continued his prolific form on the roads with a noteworthy age group win at the British 10k held over a scenic, twisting course around central London. Chasing hard on the heels of current Olympic marathon champion Constantina Dita, he finished a superb 12th overall ahead of a field of 27,000 runners. Jim Osman made his club debut in the slightly lower key setting of the Chippenham River Run, whilst Adam Harborrow led home the Cirencester finishers at the recent Downlander 10. Renata Sharp comfortably negotiated her first triathlon at the Upton Sprint Tri, whilst Bob Ferris capitalised on a strong swim to finish a fine 40th overall in the Olympic distance race. Trudy Compton held off the challenge of Ed Sinton, whilst John Evans was unlucky to lose his timing chip after the swim and so could not be awarded an official time.

Stephen Elverd and Alice Thomas took advantage of fine summer conditions at the Aerospace 5 to consolidate their positions at the head of the Cirencester AC club road race championship, although it was left to David Wright to fly the club flag at the sharp end of the field with an excellent 5th place overall. Of the other club members taking part, it was good to see Jenny Manners return from University in fine form, and Mike Barough make his competetive debut in Cirencester colours.
