Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds Lungbuster – 9mile multi-terrain. James Thomas used his fell-running expertise to achieve a fine win in this gruelling event. He described it as, “Wet, muddy, cold, with two big hills!” None-the-less he won with a two minute margin followed in by Oliver Pritchard in a commendable third place. James’s wife Liz, another fell-runner, finished comfortably in mid-field but Barbara Thomas found the mud going tough.

Results. 1st James Thomas 1:03.45, 3rd Oliver Pritchard 1:06.18, 48 Thomas 1:32.56, 82 Barbara Thomas 2:07.52. 96 finished.

Wiltshire, Melksham, 10mile roads. Three Ciren members competed in this very competitive and important county event raced through lovely rolling countryside and includes the village of Laycock. Rachel Barrow (1:29.55) led home the group in 302nd place followed in by the ubiquitous Barbara Thomas 421st (1:39.37) and Paul Barrow 475th (1:53.19). It was a good experience for them all. 504 finished and Shaun Antell (52.10) of Bideford AAC won.

Dursley Dozen, 12miles multi-terrain.  Kate Sackett has brought her excellent form from last year to win the FV55 category in 1:58.47. It is usually a well attended race by Ciren members but the prolonged wet weather made the course brutal. Kate was 146th out of 432 finishers and the winner was Dan Anderson (1:23.48) of Dursley AC.

Cirencester. The excitement overcame the gloomy weather in the second Cirencester parkrun at the Royal Agricultural University with a win for young Ollie Campbell, a fine fourth for veteran Nick Holliday and a sixth spot for Simon Campbell.  162 runners finished with eleven from CAC. The organisers are still seeking more volunteers to help with the event.

Swindon.   Isaac McAdam was pipped into second place with Dad Alan finishing in the top quarter in a slightly smaller field of 433.

Black Park, Slough. Jacob McAdam (18.46) finished well in fifth place out of 591.
