The  success of Cirencester AC’s runners for many years to come was clearly shown at last Saturday’s Swindon parkrun. Isaac McAdam had an exceptional race to storm home for victory in the personal best time of 17m30s. Equally encouraging was the performance of three of the club’s junior members, running at Swindon for the first time. They were led by Oliver Middleton in 25th place, closely followed by Sam Cook and Tom Prosser who finished in the top 30 out of a field of nearly 500. Also finishing in the top half were regular parkrun competitors David Moss, Alan McAdam and Barbara Thomas.

Isaac McAdam’s brother Jacob was not to be outshone as he competed down the M4 at Slough where he finished second out of over 600 runners. Upholding the senior honours was Ian Barrett who was second at Burnham-on-Sea.

Away from 5km parkruns the club was represented at three longer races. At the Aviator 10 miler, based at Staverton airfield and run along the lanes to the east of Gloucester Robbie Brown led home a trio of Cirencester finishers in 21st place in a time of 1h2m47s. Next was Karen Higuera who set a new FV50 age category club record of 1h17.19s followed by Barbara Thomas in her second race of the weekend in 1h39.36s.

Martin Neill and Jill Hadland took on the muddy challenges of the Slaughterford 9 multi-terrain race near Corsham. Undaunted by the heavy going and the vicious hill near the end they both finished strongly in 58th for Martin in 1h11m40s and 103rd for Jill 1n 1h18m32s. James Widdowson travelled to Longleat Safari Park for the popular 10k race where he finished 122nd out of over 1100 runners in 47m30s.
